Fantastic and long overdue blog regarding Semin that I have read. In fact, it is the only one, sadly, that I have ever found. He is without a doubt a true superstar with awesome talent. It was a pleasure to read if not, very surprising to come across. I do disagree with you about a couple of things however. 1. The North American media will never come around. 2. During this year's free agency, the critics of Semin are out in full force so the positive PR was very short acting. I truly hope that Shero and co. see him for what he really is. I am fearful every day that the Pens will not sign him and end up losing him. Again, great job. You should send this to the Pens as an open-letter just in case. Thank you. Bob ( from your neighbor to the north - Canada. Bless our 4000 troops and your hundreds of thousands!).

Oh Pierre McGuire. I like the comment he always makes to guys after an interview.

Guy he's interviewing: I just go to the net and blah, blah, blah

(Pierre looks player in the eye and practically winks)

Pierre: Go out there and have some fun.

Guy he's interviewing: (sheepishly) OK, thanks ...

Kudos to LGBT athletes coming out and standing tall. With the NHL stepping up to say YOU CAN PLAY there is no turning back. You are right, it's about time. By the way, thought your enjoy our little spin on it - we call it Born This Way and Ready to Play...

finally got the chance to read this. I'm with you that I back his personal beliefs whether I agree wit them or not, but that this wasn't the time or place to express them. It puts the rest of the team in an awkward position because they all get asked repeatedly about it.
That people are freaking out about it still days later is driving me mental. (also thanks for pointing out the Theo parallel since it seems the talking heads all skip over that one). hopefully once the ASG is over this will all stop and we can get back to more important things like winning meaningful hockey games.

I don't agree that you need to respect the country if you don't believe in their politics. Bold political statements are rare and I support anyone who can use their celebrity status to do so. That being said, he detracted from his teammates big day which was really a classless move, IMO. This was not the time of place for such a statement. He alienated his team, and tens of thousands of fans that have stood behind him.
